Man on the MoonAWESOME!

I am a BIG BELIEVER in AWESOME! I love to find, touch, taste, hear, see and experience AWESOME.  I am always looking to create AWESOME. We don’t always know when AWESOME will hit us square in the noggin’. . . But we should always be looking for AWESOME. Thinking about AWESOME. Creating AWESOME. Helping others to become. . .AWESOME! For without AWESOMEness the world would be a very different place.

Not feeling AWESOME yet? That’s okay. . .You will. . .but never give up on AWESOME. AWESOME may have already hit you, or it’s just around the corner. AWESOME is that way.

Surround yourself with AWESOME. But make sure it’s AWESOME AWESOME. Not someone or something that has to tell you or constantly remind you of how AWESOME they are or it is. That is the opposite of AWESOME. AWESOME AWESOME will help you realize just how AWESOME you are, you can be and you will be. That kind of AWESOME is well. .  . AWESOME.

I believe that EVERYONE is AWESOME! Each one of us has something AWESOME to show the world.

YOU are AWESOME!

Thank you for being AWESOME!

AWESOME!

youtube-logo(2)Report first. . .check the facts later? Growing up with a dad in the news radio business I learned very quickly that, back in the day it was all about getting it right. Sure, it was always about being the first person to break the story but it wasn’t at the expense of one’s reputation. A journalist won’t be considered as a trustworthy news source if he/she doesn’t have all the facts straight.

The growing trend these days among most if not all of the major networks is to “report first and check the facts later”. The source they seem to rely on most for their stories is social media. It seems that anyone on Twitter, Facebook and other social platforms is immediately considered a creditable source. So, there’s no need to check the facts, right?

Most “credible” news organizations come back and apologize for their errors after first reporting untruths and all is forgiven. One very recent and brilliant example of this was the Jimmy Kimmel prank that harnessed the power of twerking and flames. Just so you know Miley Cyrus was not responsible for this.

The original prank. . .

One more prank for the prank. . .

Well done Jimmy for calling them out. I also like that you promised that, “I will never prank anyone again”.  With that said I can’t wait to see the next one. Chances are, no matter what you put out there most news organizations will consider it factual and go right to broadcast.  Did some of these anchors actually say that they won’t trust any You Tube videos anymore? Ummmm. . .

What do you think? Do you care that fact checking is a distant memory? And that the “report first and apologize later” policy should be the new standard?

We have heard for years that the end of the world will happen on Friday, December 21, 2012. Most experts are saying that chances are good we will all still be here on Saturday, December 22, 2012. If you are unsure and are looking for something to do while you wait might I suggest watching the following movies and listening to one classic radio show. All feature the end of the world or a world that has a few problems. Some are classics and some are classic remakes.

I was once asked if I have ever competed in a marathon. The answer was no. So I decided to set my goal this year on running a marathon. Here is the video of that amazing race. (using a Flip Camera…yet another tool for social media) ÜberBluerÜbercool

Enjoy!
