When learning about or using social media would you consider yourself to be a leader? Or would you say you’re a follower? Perhaps you’re both. As it turns out it’s fine to be both in social media. Finding, following and being followed by the experts, has never been easier.
I will speak specifically about how the social media community works. We share information. We promote others. We learn from each other. Being a contributor to making social media better is key. Everyone wants to learn how to do it. After all, learning from others is what we were taught in school, wasn’t it? It’s known that in many industries the sharing of information is frowned upon. It’s different in Social Media. To clarify, you definitely want to be sure you are following the right people. And beware of the snake-oil salesman that will say all the right words and put spin on everything.
Professionals in social media know that our business isn’t going to suffer because we recommend who to follow. The social media industry is about being honest, bringing value, spreading the word, educating and helping others. The social media community is just that…a community. A sharing community. Don’t be afraid to share about someone else in the social media community.
